Hello

Andrew Maurer
Andrew was a winner of the 2014 University of Idaho Concerto Competition and performed the opening movement of Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3. Soon after, he was awarded the gold medal as a Musicfest Northwest Young Artist and performed with the Spokane Symphony. He has performed in master classes with internationally acclaimed pianists Menahem Pressler, Orion Weiss, Kate Boyd, Geraldine Ong, Edward Auer, Jean Louis Haggenauer, Anton Nel, and Steven Spooner.
Andrew accompanied the Vandaleers Concert Choir and taught four semesters of Class Piano at the Lionel Hampton School of Music. He has also been an active member of the University of Idaho Music Teachers National Association Chapter and has presented at the Collegiate Piano Pedagogy Symposiums in Texas and Florida and the MTNA 2018 National Conference. He has gained experience researching and presenting topics including current pedagogical piano composers and effects of synesthesia on students. Andrew’s teaching philosophy begins by establishing and building trust with students and fostering confidence in themselves and their abilities. As such, he hopes to communicate what he has learned to the next generation of musicians. When not busy with music, Andrew engages in outdoor hiking, boating and fishing, and is an avid disk golf and racquetball player, and self-taught wildlife artist.
