About Our Music Lessons

At Samson Music & Art Studio, our primary goal is to teach and encourage in students a foundation in music that will remain relevant throughout their lives. This foundation will help each student build life skills that are useful in terms of music, as well as any other passions, careers, and hobbies the student chooses to pursue. Examples include effective communication, confidence in performing or speaking in front of others, respect for teachers and authority figures, and the list goes on.

  • Our studio offers private lessons year-round, in addition to group classes seasonally.

  • We offer lessons and classes to ages 3 and up, including adults of any age.

  • We emphasize fundamentals in practice, as we believe a solid foundation acts as a catalyst for continuous growth and forges the way to allowing creative options later on in the student’s musical journey.

  • Our practice philosophy for any musician is to strive in practice for consistency, creativity, and effectiveness. Consistency may fluctuate, but it is important to continue taking little steps forward, even if it is 5-10 minutes per day, a few times per week. Creativity, or ingenuity, begs for the musician to constantly search for new methods and to adapt their practice habits when life circumstances change, as well as being open to others’ ideas and criticism. Effectiveness in practice each day is far more important than the amount of time practiced. We suggest gauging progress by noticing improvements, which is evidence of the effectiveness in practice, as opposed to only counting minutes and hours spent practicing.

  • Music theory is prevalent in our studio and is incorporated into all lessons at varying degrees. i.e. Clapping and counting new rhythms; singing or speaking notes you are learning on an instrument; identifying chords, scales, and songs by ear; understanding another musician’s role in a song or piece of music; and many other things. We also tailor lessons to the student’s needs.
